Pool Spas

What could be more relaxing than a dip in your very own pool spa? This may be a luxurious therapeutic option but it remains to be one of the best.

Pool spas are smaller versions of the swimming pools which feature hot and bubbling water. They are perfect as a gathering “place” for all members of the family, and are known to provide the best relaxation. It does not really matter what reasons you have because pool spas definitely stand out among the many pool varieties.

Most people will agree that pool and/or spa “shopping” can be as challenging as car “shopping”. Selecting from among the brands, models, and accessories can be very overwhelming. To make matter worse, opinions from different people do little to ease the complexity of the situation.

Due to the fact that pools and spas are rather complicated to decide on, but serve important roles nonetheless, proper maintenance and care are necessary to ensure that they work best for us.

Luxury pools have various “add-ons” to make them so. Pools spas work like the typical spas and are made so in order to provide the pleasure of swimming in heated water. Swim spas feature heated water and currents as well. Since a lot of elements are present in the atmosphere which may bring about unsafe and dirty water, it is crucial that maintenance is regularly done. Pools covers are undeniably one of the most essential accessories you can buy.

Since not all pools have standard shapes and sizes, some might find it difficult to buy the right pool covers for their pools. But if they browse through the various pool accessory supplies, they’d find out that a lot of them do custom-made covers. Most of these suppliers use a special type of system to measure your pool so that you will be able to provide them with the correct pool and spa cover specs.

There are several varieties of covers, and choosing may mean reading about the different pool and spa cover information. Generally though, all covers work to allow the pool and spa to retain the heat. Loss of this ability would mean an increase in your heating consumption.

Another reason, and a more obvious one, swimming pool and spa cover protects the water against impurities and evaporation. Also, covers serve to protect children from getting into the water when they wander around by themselves.

Finding a good quality cover is not an easy task. While most of them appear the same, they can actually differ in more ways than one. So, in order to ensure that you are buying the right type of pool cover, consider the following factors: the cover’s density, extended apron, heat seal gasket, ASTM and UL listing, and warranties.

The swimming pool and spa cover specs should be able to tell you its density. A cover with a foam density not less than 1.5 lb is a good choice as it will provide adequate insulation.

Covers with extended aprons are capable of covering the immediate perimeter of your pool or spa in order to prevent heat and moisture loss. The heat seal gasket has the same goal, but work on areas where creases are likely to appear.

If you are not too sure about the pool cover you are intending to buy, look for the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) logos. These will assure you that your cover has undergone extensive testing and has met safety standards.

Since pool and spa covers are the accessories that need to be replaced most often, extended warranties are necessary. And since they don’t come cheap, you don’t want your pool to be “coverless” for sometime, do you?
