Pool Safety Equipment

Any pool in a residential or private setting always becomes the focal point for activities. It’s somewhat a baffling trend, but people do love to be near a pool.

But the problem is that, any body of water even an artificially enclosed bodies of water like a pool, that is intended for recreational (or competitive) activities like swimming, can present the hazard of drowning. That’s why for all the boons of having a facility such as a pool on the premises, no one still should ignore the potential for hazard it could bring.

Its simple, if you have a pool, then you should have pool safety equipments. That is because drowning do occur – and frequently too. In affluent neighborhoods wherein private or residential pools are common, drowning is a major cause of childhood fatalities, much more than any prevalent causes of childhood fatalities such as motor vehicle accidents. Though adults are, on the average, aware and likely capable of safeguarding themselves against these drowning risks, yet drowning still does occur to adults. Muscle spasms occurring in the middle of a large and deep pool can easily kill an able adult as well as children.

As a resulting precaution to these incidents, the government had enforced bylaws that would require homeowners with private pools a degree of safety measures. One requirement is the installation of pool fences enclosing the pool. Other localities require the presence of several pool safety equipments.

The pool fence alone is already a significant pool safety measure, but this won’t help on certain situations. What if the child IS already on the pool?

Pool safety nets can be installed to prevent wayward toddlers from dropping into the depths of the pool. Some pool nets are manufactured to be minimally abrasive enough to deter the child from crawling further. The most basic requirement for this pool safety equipment is to have enough tensile strength to support a child and have small enough squares to disallow the child from slipping through the holes. As opposed to safe pool covers, the pool safety net allows you to treat or restock the pool without taking the net off. And unlike pool fences, it doesn’t give too much restrictive impression.

There are several makers of fine pool safety nets. I can name Aqua Nets, Katchakid, Pool Safety Net, and Pool Guard as among the fine pool net manufacturers.

Pool safety equipment alarms can also function as pool safety equipments. Though for a purpose that can be seen as trivial, the cost might far outweigh its practicality. In my honest opinion, pool safety equipment alarms are overrated for such use, better to use prohibitive pool safety equipment like pool nets or pool covers. But if you have any extra wallet full, then why not dispense further to obtain the 100% protection. If you have a pool fence, then install a gate alarm that sounds an audible alarm once the gate is opened. If there is none, then install a perimeter alarm that goes off around the pool. The perimeter alarm is usually too expensive to use as pool safety equipment. There is also a floating wave sensor that triggers an alarm if detected a water displacement equal to a certain body mass.

Pool safety equipment also includes several other miscellanies. In the event when you children is in the pool, there should be pool life rings available at every corners. They shouldn’t be secured too tightly that the children themselves can’t get it. Pool ropes with pool rope floats serves as a boundary to the deeper portion or a lifeline to a tiring swimmer. Pole nets and pool poles is also essential pool safety equipments, not only useful in retrieving objects in the pool but also retrieving individuals on the pool. For such effect choose pole nets that have blunt hooks on them.
