Fiberglass Pools

Existing for almost five decades now, fiberglass pools are no longer new in the industry. This kind of swimming bath is made up of a single piece where the shells with resins are manufactured in the factory. A fiberglass swimming pool is then polished with a non- porous exterior gel coat similar to that applied in boats and slides seen nowadays. Due to the innovations in technology, fiberglass pool can be availed in a variety of sizes and shapes, among others.

Fiberglass pools can also be incorporated with optic lightings, in- floor sanitation systems and tile patterns. When you speak of maintenance, this kind of swimming bath does not require liner replacements, resurfacing and acid washing. Fiberglass swimming pool though will need the correct kind of chemical treatment in a weekly basis. This is because the shell of a fiberglass pool has to be protected from harmful elements.

Caring Instructions

In doing away with cracks in the structure, fiberglass pools do not have to be drained. If you are planning such move, follow the necessary procedures. This kind of swimming bath has actually been designed to be filled with water at any rate. When not taken into account, a fiberglass swimming pool will experience hydrostatic pressure from the outside resulting to shell damages. For great operations, the water level of the fiberglass pool has to be kept in the middle of the rectangular skimmer plate.

To avoid permanent injuries in the shell, do not attempt to utilize metal scrapers and steel wools in cleaning fiberglass pools. However, this kind of swimming bath can be restored by using automotive refinement compound. Take note that the gel coat finish of the fiber glass swimming pool is very sensitive where it can be readily scratched like any other shiny membrane. Since the outside layer of a fiberglass pool is about seven to eight times thicker than an ordinary paint, it is not likely that scrapes will be more than shallow.

The development of hair line breakage is not a common problem in fiberglass pools. It is because the situation can only be true when there is shell penetration not even affecting the entire formation of the swimming bath. Even if the dilemma is a rare find, the fiberglass swimming pool can still be restored. Always make sure that most of the filths that go to the bottom of the fiberglass pool will be brushed toward the main exhaust to be temporarily confined in the filter. In the accumulation of a huge amount of dirt, it has to be vacuumed out.

Water Chemistry

There are four components present in fiberglass pools namely calcium hardness (CH), potential hydrogen (pH), total alkalinity (TA) and total dissolved solids (TDS).

Calcium hardness (CH) refers to the relative hardness of the water in the fiberglass swimming pool. The right measurement should only be between 300 to 350 PPM. If the CH is low, the water will be aggressive to the point of corroding equipments such as ladders and heaters. If the CH is high, there will be water deposits appearing on the shell.

Potential hydrogen (pH) refers to the proportional base or acidity of the water in the fiberglass pool. Take for example, when the pH is low, that would be acidic but when the pH is high, that would be base. The ideal level of pH in fiberglass pools ranges from 7.2 to 7.4 as compared to the value of 7 in human tear categorized as neutral.

Total alkalinity (TA) refers to the composition of minerals in the water of the fiberglass swimming pool. TA is buffered in pH and measured in PPM. When the PPM is low, the pH would fluctuate. When the PPM is high, the pH would oscillate. The correct level of TA in fiberglass pools is between 70 to 80.

Total dissolved solids (TDS) refers to the overall total of the material solutions of the water in fiberglass pool. When the TDS measurement is more than 1, 500 PPM, the level has to be trimmed down. This is because the sterilizer efficiency will be diminished. Aside from that, the water will be abrading.

For more detailed information, do not hesitate to discuss things with fiberglass pool dealers especially in areas that you are not much familiar with. In that manner, you can more than treat yourself in the private oasis of your sophisticated abode.
